Marcela Bilek

Professor Marcela Bilek is a Physicist and has led various Australian Research Council projects focused mainly on the development of new materials needed in a wide range of industries. Her work is focused on modification of surfaces to produce biocompatible materials. She leads research groups specializing in material and energy related technology. Marcela Bilek has authored and co authored over 140 international journal articles.

Professor Marcela Bilek works on projects related to producing highly insulated glazing for energy efficient architecture and surfaces for biomedical applications. In recognition of her work, she has been given prestigious awards including Malcolm McIntosh Prize for Physical Scientist of the Year (2002), MIT TR 100 Young Innovator Award (2003) and Australian Academy of Science Pawsey Medal (2004).
