Peter Grünberg

Peter Grünberg is a German physicist who worked as a senior researcher at the Institute for Solid State Physics at Forschungszentrum Jülich until his retirement in 2004.  His research led him to jointly win the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2007 with Albert Fert in recognition of their discovery of giant magnetoresistance which led to great advances in hard disk technology.
