Yves Chauvin

Yves Chauvin is one of the spiritual fathers in the world of industrial homogeneous catalysis and the ideas he brought to the mechanism of olefin metathesis were a particularly remarkable innovation. He is the originator and the creator of several important petrochemical industrial processes.

Yves Chauvin was awarded the 2005 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, along with Robert H. Grubbs and Richard R. Schrock, for developing metathesis, an important chemical reaction used in organic chemistry.
