Jiaotong University in Shanghai

Shanghai Jiao Tong University (sometimes called Shanghai Jiaotong University or abbreviated as SJTU), was established in 1896, making it one of China’s oldest universities. Its history is chronicled in the Museum of Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s History. The university has 31 schools in a range of subjects such as engineering, sciences, life medical sciences, and the humanities and social sciences, over 42,000 full time students, and over 3,000 full time faculty members. The university is home to six state key laboratories, five state engineering research centres, and numerous ministry-level key laboratories. Former President of the People’s Republic of China Jiang Zemin was educated at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
