John E. Walker

Professor Sir John E. Walker is a chemist who studied the structural composition of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), a molecule that transports energy in cells. He has also studied human nutritional processes and proteomics, the branch of genetics that studies the full set of proteins encoded by a genome.

Walker, together with American chemist Paul D. Boyer shared the 1997 Nobel Prize for Chemistryf or their elucidation of the enzymatic mechanism underlying the synthesis of adenosine triphosphate.
