Dr Oliver Smithies

Born in 1925, Dr Smithies is originally from Halifax, UK.  He has spent years studying the behavior of genes. His “gene targeting” technique allowed individual genes to be altered at the cellular level. Dr Smithies co-won the Nobel Prize in 2007 with Profs. Mario Capecchi and Martin Evans.
