Karl Barry Sharpless

K. Barry Sharpless is a member of the National Academy of Sciences since 1985 and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences since 1984. He currently holds the W. M. Keck professorship in chemistry at The Scripps Research Institute.

In 2001 he won the Nobel Prize for Chemistry for his work on stereoselective oxidation reactions.
