Tim Hunt

Sir Richard Timothy Hunt is an English biochemist. He is also known as Tim Hunt, and he is a Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine 2001. He received the award with Paul Nurse and Leland H. Hartwell for the discovery of regulators of the cell cycle. Hunt found the cyclin molecules (which regulate the cell cycle) in sea urchins. Cyclins bind and activate the cyclin-dependent kinases. He also found the cyclin molecule in vertebrae cells. He found that activation of cyclin dependent kinases regulates the cell cycle.
